I consider Exterior RV maintenance to be the single most important thing that you can
do to protect Your RV. After all RV's dont come cheap. Without proper RV maintenance
your RV can be de-valued considerably. We have done countless major repairs on
coaches that could have been easily prevented. Not all RV maintenance related damage
can be attributed to neglect. More often than not I find RV owners have not been
properly educated on how to maintain there RV. The following is a list of items that I
would recommend you check at least
four times a year.
1. Roof: Check condition of roofing material ( rubber, aluminum or fiberglass)
your roof should be washed at least once a year. Be very careful your roof will be
extremely slippery when wet.

2. Roof vents, moldings, skylights and accessories. Check them for physical
condition as well as the sealant applied to them.

3. All windows, hatches, doors and fixtures. Check to be sure that putty tape and
or gaskets are in tact and sealant is in good condition.

4. All clearance lights, stop/tail lights, porch/utility lighting. Check that they are
properly sealed to the coach.

5. To protect your filon sidewalls or aluminum siding your Rv should be washed
regularly
Checking these items four times a year may seem like a hassle but once you have an established
preventetive maintenance routine it wont take much time at all. I would much rather you were out
enjoying your RV than having it in a shop due to dryrot. The list above covers the basic areas of
concern. However not all RV's are the same so be sure to consult your owners manual for further
instructions. When it comes time for maintenance be sure you have the proper sealant for the
different areas of your coach. There are many different types of sealant out there some are great
for RV application some are not. If you have any questions regarding what sealant to use in a
specific area feel free to call. We will be happy to help.
